John Terry sub
|
Couldn't see it elsewhere, etc.
What the fuck?
Treating the Premier League like a testimonial. Obscene and pathetic.
I know he's a 'Chelsea legend' as we keep being told, but it's not like he was Bobby Moore or something - and I'm not just saying that for the obvious reasons.
Apparently his suggestion - of course it was, the twat - and Conte went along with it.
I've lost a lot of respect for Conte today. Never had any for Terry or Chelsea and wouldn't expect any more from them or their fans. But still, fucking hell.

In the week that Sideshow Bob spent £1MILLION on gifts for player, manager and owner, they then go and treat a Premier League game like a fucking testimonial. The rent boys are the scum of the earth, every single one of them.

He's a club legend and one of the best centre halfs of the last 20 years. His team had won the league and he was playing in a dead rubber in his last ever game at home. I don't know why this would bother anyone.

Didn't Drogba get subbed off in the first half when he left the first time? Think they stopped the game and chaired him off
Would have seemed more respectful to give Terry a few minutes at the end rather than start him and take him off. Shows he is finished and hopefully we won't touch him with a barge pole

It was Terry's idea apparently, but I happen to agree with collyrob on this.

Ridiculous symbolism.
Wouldn't happen if we just went back to numbering starting xi as 1-11.

Didn't we want to do it for Potts and that cunt Roeder mugged it off?
And it would have been his 400th appearance?

Thankfully things like this will never appear on my list of things that annoy me.
I'm sure they asked the fa before doing it and the bloke has been a fantastic player for them, regardless of whether or not he's a cunt or not.
Wish we had more English players with his attitude to the game and their country.

Sunderland even agreed to kick the ball off in the 26th minute
What a pathetic state of affairs

Potts was on 499 appearances and we led Bolton 2-1 with a minute to play. My brother Glenn didn't send on Potts to close out the game. He sent on that well known closer Richard Garcia.

If Sunderland agreed to kick the ball off in the 26th minute , could that not be construed as some kind of match fixing and warrant a points deduction for both clubs ?

I do give a shit, yes.
Not only because it is embarrassingly sentimental and continues the trend of turning football crowds into some kind of Americanised enforced fun/ emotion spectacle, and not only because it is another step in what is looking more and more like the canonisation of a man who is a bit of a cunt by all accounts and was good for Chelsea but little more than not bad for England in the most part, and threw his international career away in a strop because he was pulled up on his behaviour for once.
In fact, I don't care for any of those reasons. I'm pissed off because of those, but Chelsea can do what they want as far as I'm concerned.
I care because the ONLY people who would have wanted this to happen would have been Terry, Chelsea, and their fans., as much as we're all supposed to love the cunt all of a sudden. The referee is not supposed to manage the game according to what Chelaea want the script to be. That's why this matters. The authorities have been complicit in arranging part of a game to suit one team's agenda (by not tellimg Terry to get the fuck off the pitch and telling the rest of their players to get on with the game, and also by not asking serious questions about why Sunderland had pre arranged to kick the ball out at a specific time.- which is spot fixing). That raises big questions potentially. What's next - if we are playing Tottenham last game next season and everyone has decided it would be nice if Harry Kane got his 30th goal or whatever, and they get a penalty...well you would have to wonder.
